Cummins was founded in 1919 in Columbus, Indiana (USA), driven by mechanic Clessie Cummins and banker William Irwin. Its big breakthrough came in 1933 with the "Model H" engine, which established the company as a leading maker of engines for commercial transport.
With over a century of history, Cummins now builds diesel and natural gas engines for trucks, heavy machinery, buses, generators and stationary applications, with a presence in more than 190 countries.
Its engines stand out for features such as long-stroke crankshafts, which improve torque, and steel timing gears instead of belts, designed to extend engine life.
